I was in Greenville SC last week and did not leave until 5 so unfortunately, I did not get home until after 9 last night. Thanks so much for commenting on my post. While I wish no one else has to go through this with their dog, it is reassuring to hear from someone else who has. I took Toby to the vet yesterday to get his blood re-tested to see if the thyroid meds are working. His coughing and breathing seems to get worse at night. Is there a certain time of day when you can tell that your lab is having a hard time? I am so sorry that he is having surgery this week. He is a 10 year old black lab and has been on a daily thyroid medication for about 4 years. His breathing and coughing was getting worst this past summer which led me to take him to the vet. The vet immediately was able to diagnosis him with LP. I have been scared of the surgery, especially the potential complications afterwards, but know it will allow him to breathe better overall and keep him with us longer. I wish you the best with Toby and hope that if you do decide to go through with surgery that everything works out for the best. Wish us luck!
