Ashley has been sick with a virus this week. It started in the wee mornings hours on Wednesday with vomiting. And now it’s a fever that comes and goes. One minute, once the medicine has taken hold, she eats, drinks, smiles, and plays. But once the medicine wears off, she quickly goes downhill as her fever spikes again. And all she wants to do is lay down with me. I’ve never seen her like this before. Yesterday, her fever got so high that she woke up about three times having convulsions. It wasn’t a seizure, but a short-lived moment of shaking for just a second. It would occur while she was sleeping and would startle her awake. The doctor said it was normal, but it was enough to be scary! She’s such a trooper though as her little body fights this virus. We’ve had to give her luke warm baths at night to keep her temperature down (which involves a lot of kicking and screaming) and then tonight she refused to take medicine so we had to force it in her (thank goodness Van was here for that part). Please pray that she gets better soon! It breaks my heart seeing her like this as she has never had such high fevers before. It’s so pitiful. She could barely lift her head up yesterday. It’s hard seeing your little one feel so bad, but I have enjoyed cuddling with her on the couch. It’s not often that she’ll even sit in my lap anymore, and the past 2 days she has slept on me for hours on end. I’ve loved the closeness and snuggles with her. I’ve sung to her and swayed with her. I’ve felt so needed. And it’s been neat feeling the little guy kick and move around while Ashley sleeps on my tummy. Judging from his kicks, he doesn’t like the snuggling as much as I do. But it’s pretty cool having the two of them with me at the same time. It makes me feel whole.
On a more positive note, here is a cute video that Jan sent me from our Smith Mountain Lake trip. I would turn your volume down though as it involves a lot of screaming (on the kids part; not ours). Ashley and Brody were having a screaming contest one night as we ate dinner. We may not have eaten in peace and quiet per say, but hey, at least we were able to eat as the kids entertained themselves. Watching this makes me smile as it shows Ashley as her healthy, happy self. I can’t wait to hear her scream like that again!
Praying Ashley returns to her normal self soon. Glad you've been able to enjoy some extra snuggling with both your little ones together. :)
