Happy Happy Joy Joy

We’re having a little BOY!!

We had our big ultrasound appointment today.  They measured the baby’s body parts, listened to the heart beat, checked out the chambers of the heart, brain, spine, etc.  They even turned on this thing where you can see all the blood flow in the baby; it turned red and blue.  This was a newer ultrasound machine than they had when I was pregnant with Ashley so we didn’t get to see that part back then.  Totally cool!  And then came the part where we would find out the gender, just barely.

Little man was curled up in the fetal position.  He was laying with his head on his hands (like I do) and legs curled up under him.  He refused to straighten his legs out and the umbilical cord was positioned between his legs.  Go figure.  So the ultrasound tech couldn’t see a thing!  I was getting worried for a moment; thinking I would have to leave there not knowing whether it was a boy or a girl.  But the tech was so sweet.  She spent 20-30 minutes with us, trying to get him to move.  I went from laying on one side to the other, coughed, and did anything I could to get the little guy to move.  The tech even pressed on my belly trying to get him to change positions.  After several attempts, he finally moved around enough so we could see.  When the ultrasound tech exclaimed “Its a boy!” Van did a little happy dance.  Seriously wish I had a picture of that.  haha

We are beyond excited that Ashley will have a little brother!  And everything check out well.  He’s healthy and growing at a normal rate.  Our tradition (well, we’ve only done it once) is to buy the baby’s first clothes on the day we find out the gender.  So after we left the doctor’s office we went to get the little guy some clothes. Here’s what we got him.  I hope he likes it :)

We also went to The Angus Barn for dinner tonight.  We go there every year for our Anniversary because it’s where Van proposed and where we had our rehearsal dinner.  So it’s a big tradition to go there every year.  And boy do I look forward to it!  So tonight was a combined celebration for our anniversary and little boy.  Our waitress even put blue candles in our pound cake for dessert.  So sweet!
