Every once in a while I like to take a break from showcasing my favorite little girl, and talk about some cool new baby product I found. Don’t be discouraged, Ashley will make an appearance in this post. It just won’t be entirely about her
So, I found this cool new sippy cup, called the TILTY cup. Well, not sure how new it is, but it’s new to me! It makes transitioning from a sippy cup to a “grown-up” cup easier. I was worried that Ashley would have a hard time transitioning to a grown-up cup since you have to hold the cup at an angle to get the liquid out. The only sippy cup she has ever used are the straw ones, which don’t have to be tilted since you use a straw to suck it out. Don’t get me wrong, she loves drinking out of a big girl cup. But it’s hard showing her how to tilt it just enough to get the water out. She either doesn’t do it enough for the liquid to reach her mouth and ends up frustrated, or she tilts the cup too much and all the water comes crashing out on her (and my floors). Plus, you can’t show her how to do anything lately. She wants to do it all herself…Miss Independent.
Hence, the TILTY cup! The neatest thing about the TILTY cup is that it contains a ledge that keeps the liquid at an angle, so the liquid flows to the spout with minimal effort and the child doesn’t have to tilt his/her head back as far. Isn’t that cool?! Definitely one of those “why didn’t I think of that?” products. Another thing that I really like about them is that they only have 2 parts – a snap-on lid and a cup. No valves. The valves on Ashley’s straw cups are driving me crazy. They are a pain to clean and put together and somehow the cups are now leaking while standing upright. If you want to get your blood pressure up, fill one with milk, set it upright on the counter, and watch the milk steadily leak out of the straw onto your counter and floor. Ugh! So I was thrilled to come across the TILTY cup. No leakage here, my friend!
Ashley loves them, too. She picked up the technique rather quickly and loves to carry her new cup around the house. She also doesn’t throw it like she does her other cups. Not sure why, but hey, I’m not complaining! In addition to the regular TILTY cups, I also bought the smoothie lids that have a larger opening. They work perfectly! I made Ashley 2 smoothies last week and she was able to drink them out of the smoothie lid with no problem.
So if you are sick of your regular ole’ sippy cups or are transitioning to a grown-up cup, give the TILTY cup a try! I promise you won’t be disappointed! And no, I don’t get paid for this endorsement. But that would be nice though, wouldn’t it? (ahem…)

I like the look of these. We use a lot of the "take and toss" brand cups. They have a lid and cup, they don't have valves and you don't have to suck very hard to get things out. But they don't make a cup with larger holes for smoothies. Best part about "Take and Toss" is that they are usually $3.50 for 5 cups. The worst thing, once they are broken in well, if tossed or thrown down hard enough (as Em has taken to doing when she's done or frustrated), the lid can pop off. It's only happened twice, but not fun.
