The Magic Kingdom

We went to The Magic Kingdom yesterday.  Oh my goodness, it was so much FUN!  Ashley did great and really enjoyed it!  She got a special pin to wear signifying her first trip, and she wore her Minnie Mouse t-shirt that we made for her.  If you can’t read it, it says “Ashley’s First Disney Trip” :)   We were there all day, too.  From 9:00AM – 5:00PM.  And Ashley only napped in her stroller once!  The plan was to go to the park in the morning, come back to the room for lunch and Ashley’s nap, and then go back in the afternoon.  But Ashley did so well, we just stayed all day.  She took a snooze in her stroller long enough for Van and I to go ride The Haunted Mansion, and she was still sleeping when we got back so then Nana and Grandaddy rode it, too.  She woke up shortly after that and was good to go!  It worked out really well.

When we first got there, we did the Meet and Greet with the Disney Princesses – Princess Aurora, Belle and Cinderella.  Van bought Ashley an autograph book and pen so she was able to get their autographs, too!  Ashley was a little timid in the morning.  She wasn’t used to all the people and noise.  Then having to wait in line to see the princesses she got a little antsy.  I think part of it was because of my anxiety.  It’s so different going to a park like that with your children.  I wasn’t prepared for the crowd of people rushing in when the park opened. It was just a little hectic getting in there.   So I think Ashley was getting anxiety and uptight signals from me.  But once I calmed down, she calmed down, too.  She loved walking around and people watching.  The funny thing is she would walk/run and then stop in the middle of the path to look up at the people walking by.  So she didn’t make it very far.  She didn’t understand that she was going to get trampled if she kept doing that.

We rode 3 rides with her and she did great!  She wasn’t scared on any of them, and she did just fine waiting in line.  We rode It’s a Small World, Peter Pan’s Flight, and Winnie the Pooh.  We did use Fast Passes for the rides, so we didn’t have to wait too long.  I highly recommend getting Fast Passes.  We also rode the train that takes you around the park.  And watched the Celebrate a Dream Come True parade.  Then before we left,  we did the Meet and Greet with Mickey and Minnie Mouse.  I think I was the most excited to do that!  It was an awesome ending to the day!  We rode the ferry back to the parking lot and collapsed in exhaustion when we got back to the room.  It was so much fun and we bought Ashley (and myself) lots of Disney goodies.  I kept convincing myself to buy things because “I’m on vacation”, but I’m about spent out now!  I’ve gone a little Mickey crazy on my purchases.  It really has been a fun trip though.  Ashley has thoroughly enjoyed herself!
