We went to the beach this past weekend. It was a nice getaway and the weather was beautiful! I really wanted to concentrate on the dogs and make sure they got lots of exercise. I feel like our days at home are so mundane for them. So we took them to the beach and let them swim and run. Despite the beautiful warm weather, the beach was deserted. So it was nice for them to run off leash.
Speaking of being off leash…we had a little incident one night. Long story short, Blake got hit by a car. Before I go any further, I will let you know that he is fine. I swear this dog is like a tank! Thank goodness, I didn’t witness it. Dad was outside with him when it happened. It was at night, dark, and a lady came flying down their street. Cars rarely come down their street as it is very private and no one else lives down there. Plus the street dead ends into a culdesac so there is nowhere to go. Needless to say, it is usually very safe for the dogs to be off leash. On this particular night, Dad saw a car coming towards them at a high speed. All 3 dogs were out there with him. Dad started waving his flash light to get the car’s attention in hopes she would slow down (yes, it was a lady driver), which she did, but not soon enough. Blake was hit and the impact knocked him to the ground. But then he got right back up and crossed the street like nothing happened. Poor kid. I hate it happened , but I am so glad it was Blake and not Toby. The car hit Blake’s back legs and knocked them out from under him. Toby will be 10 this year and has arthritis in his back legs so he would not have recovered as quickly. Regardless, it seems like we always come home from the beach with a story about the boys. Hopefully next time I won’t have anything to talk about!

I love the pictures of Ashley! She is super cute! I also love the action pictures of the boys running on the beach! Very cool (and clear) action shots. I need to borrow your camera to take some pictures of my blurry boy. LOL!
I'm so sorry to hear about Blake. I hate that he got hit and that the lady didn't slow down soon enough (what is wrong with some people). I'm glad you're Dad was out there to get her to slow down some and to witness what happened and make sure Blake was ok. How scary. Glad he's doing well.
