I’ve had a big decision to make lately. And for those of you that know me, I’m not exactly the best at making any type of decision. I will second guess myself in a heartbeat. If you go to the mall with me, be prepared to be patient. I will stand there and agonize over the red or purple sweater for hours. Lately, however, I’ve been wrestling over the dining room v. playroom. I had been toying with the idea for quite a while – getting rid of our dining room suite and turning the room into a playroom for Ashley. In fact, I had it up for sale last Fall, but then took it off the market. I kept changing my mind because I would think about how excited I was when we got the dining room suite. We bought it five years ago off of Craigslist and got an awesome deal on it. After we bought our house, it was important to me to have a dining room. After all, it is part of being a full fledged wife, isn’t it? You have Thanksgiving dinner there, decorate it for the holidays, etc. We did all of that. But then when I started thinking about it, we only used it once a year.
And although I enjoyed seeing my pretty china displayed in the china cabinet, I really needed more space for Ashley’s toys. After her birthday and then Christmas, our den exploded with toys! It’s crazy how fast the toys accumulate once they start playing and moving around. And I got tired of walking into our house seeing all of her toys thrown about in the den. It was driving me insane!
So the time had come. Yesterday we said “Goodbye” to our beloved dining room suite and “Hello” to Ashley’s new playroom! It is absolutely wonderful to have a space just for Ashley and her toys, and we got our den back where we can sit and relax without having to maneuver around all the toys. Ashley loves it in there too. She can throw her toys around all the wants! I bought a 3-bin storage unit (called a Storagepalooza) for her miscellaneous toys. I bought it from the Land of Nod, one of my favorite online stores for kids’ stuff. It is such a relief that I can keep everything nice and organized, and more importantly, out of the way.
Another bonus was the person that bought our dining room suite. She was an older lady whose kids had grown and now she wanted a nice dining table to sit at. So that was kinda neat how we were in different stages of life. I’m getting rid of it because I need the extra room for our little one, and she needed it because she had a room to fill as her kids had grown and moved out. I always have an attachment to material things, so one thing I was worried about was how it would be treated. (Yes, I know it’s only a dining room suite). But we had lots of good memories with it so I wanted to be reassured it would still be in good hands. And I think it will be.
Oh, and did I mention that we bought a BOB Revolution stroller with the money we made. Score! So I basically traded our dining room suite for a playroom AND a BOB! It’s a win-win for everyone!
It’s nice to have my sanity back

Yea for a playroom! I'm so jealous! :) When can we come and play? LOL! I love that your dining room set went to a good home (totally get that feeling). :) I love all of the space that Ashley now has and the sanity it has brought you, not to mention a BOB as a bonus! Score! I've heard great things about them! What a perfect thing to spend your money on. You'll get so much use out of it!
Oh I remember when Emma got her own play room...BEST feeling ever!!!! And I love that storage bin!....and you got a BOB! You're going to love it!
