Gingerbread House

I decorated my first gingerbread house yesterday!  Bake it?  I did not.  You may remember that I bought a Candy Cottage at the Shopping Spree back in October.  It’s basically a gingerbread house that you decorate and re-use every year.  No slaving in the kitchen all day baking gingerbread or buying a kit only for the roof to cave in.  It’s already put together.  All that’s left to do is the fun part!  And since it is re-usable, the possibilities are endless…Valentines House, Easter House, Haunted House.

So I cranked up the Christmas tunes and began building.  Man, was it fun to decorate!  Ashley will have a blast decorating it with me every year!  She wasn’t feeling well, so I waited for her to take a nap before I conquered my little creation.  Plus, there wasn’t much she could do to help this year anyway, except sneak away with the candies and possibly choke.  So I opted to do it while she was napping and surprise her when she woke up.  It was pretty time consuming (since I had NO IDEA what I was doing), and you basically had to envision what you wanted to do before you did it, to ensure you had enough candy pieces.  But I guess that only matters if you are OCD like me and want all the sides to match :)

Anyway, here are some pictures of a tradition in the making!

Wow! Your gingerbread house turned out incredible! I love it! I want a bite (oh, that's right...it's not edible). Darn! Maybe I'll lick off the top or something. LOL! I can't wait to see what you and Ashley create over the years. What a fun tradition to start!

    Hi Kendall,
Yes, feel free to put a link back to my site on your blog. That would be great! Your blog will be a perfect platform for people to showchase their Candy Cottages! I will definitely check that out so I can get more ideas for mine.
    Take care,
    Niki
