Happy Thanksgiving everyone! As I sit down to eat Thanksgiving dinner with my family today, I will be mindful of all that I am thankful for. It’s funny how when you get older, and start a family of your own, the true meaning of the holidays really comes alive. As a kid, I would think of the pilgrims and Indians, the Mayflower, candy corn, turkey, sweet potato casserole, watching the parade, and going to see Nana for Thanksgiving. I remember making turkeys out of my hand print at school.
Nowadays, I realize that it isn’t just about the turkey on the table or the pumpkin pie. It’s about who is at your table. Today I am thankful that my parents and in-laws will be sitting at our table. As well as my uncle, aunt and cousin. And that everyone is healthy. I will miss my sister but am thankful that she made it to DC safely to visit with her in-laws. I am so incredibly thankful for our beautiful daughter. I am thankful that I was able to nurse her for 12 whole months. I am thankful to be a stay at home Mom. I am thankful for my loving husband. And that he has a job and works his tail off so that I can continue to be a stay at home Mom. I am thankful that we all have our health. I am thankful for our home. I am thankful for electricity and heat/air conditioning. I am thankful for our friends, both old and new. I am thankful for our four-legged children and the companionship they provide, despite all the dog hair they leave behind. I am thankful for so many blessings in my life.
So when you sit down at your dinner table today, what will you be thankful for?
