Din Din

We had chicken, green beans and mashed potatoes for dinner one night last week.  It was so neat watching Ashley eat the same food we were eating.  She really enjoyed herself!  I feel a bit relieved that she’s eating more solids now.  For a while there, she would gag with any “real” food you gave her.  She was fine with baby puffs and yogurt melts that dissolve, but anything that we would eat, she would gag because she would just swallow without mushing it in her mouth.  Or she couldn’t figure out how to get it in her mouth.  She would use her pincer grasp, but the food would drop before it made it to her mouth.  I think she’s got the hang of it now.  Not only is it easier for me to just feed her what we are eating, but it will force me to make a nutritious dinner instead of throwing in the ole’ Stouffers or frozen pizza.

As I was cutting up the food and putting it on her tray, it was disappearing pretty quickly.  I think I gave her more food like four times.  So I thought to myself, “Gosh, she’s eating a lot of this.”  But when I took her out of her highchair, I saw where a lot of the food ended up…in her bib!  I got her a new bib that has a pouch to catch the food (too bad I didn’t have it for the taco and spaghetti experiments).  The boys are used to cleaning up after her and eating whatever she drops on the floor.  Needless to say, I’m sure they would rather us not use this bib.  Sorry boys!

Oh, and did I mention that she has THREE (possibly four) teeth coming in at the same time up top?!  As you can imagine, the big bad teething monster has been lurking around the house this week.  So hopefully once those suckers come in she’ll really be able to chomp down on some food.  Right now, she’s only got the 2 bottom ones.  I don’t think I’d be able to eat much with only 2 teeth either :)
