We just installed Ashley’s big girl car seat! By “we” I mean…I went out and bought it and Van installed it
I am a little sad that she’s moving up from an infant carrier to a convertible car seat. Just the fact that she’s growing up so fast (sniff sniff). But I am excited about the new Britax car seat that I bought for her. After researching several brands and talking to other Moms, I’ve known for a long time that I wanted a Britax. They are rated No. 1 in safety, especially head safety. And when I learned that Britax was coming out with a new line of convertible car seats, I was thrilled! I have waited all summer in anticipation and the new line was finally released a couple of weeks ago!
I bought the Marathon 70. I used several coupons and got a really good deal on it (saved about $85)! Some of the new features include a lower center of gravity, integrated steel bars, SafeCell technology, side impact protection, and a quick adjust harness. The weight limits on the new Marathon are 40 pounds rear facing, 70 pounds forward facing, and 49 inches in height.
I know Ashley will probably outgrow it in height before she reaches 70 pounds, so I was mainly interested in the rear facing weight limit. While current recommendations say that a child should be at least a year old and weigh 20 pounds or more before facing forward, recent studies show toddlers are twice as safe in front and side crashes when facing backward. So I plan on keeping Ashley rear facing for as long as possible.
Yay! I'm so excited you have it and it's installed. I can't wait to hear all about it and see a picture of her in it. It is sad to see them grow. Our Britax convertible car seat arrives tomorrow. They sure are growing!
