Ashley's Baptism

Lord, bless this tiny infant
Who is brought to You today
And teach those precious little feet
To follow in Your way
Lord, bless the baby’s parents, too,
And with Your loving care,
Grant them all the happiness
A family can share.

Ashley was baptized today!  I was real nervous how she was going to do but she did GREAT!  I was so proud of her!  She made it through her baptism just fine and the preacher took her around the church while the congregation sang Jesus Loves Me.  It was so sweet!  Brought tears to my eyes.  It was such a special moment for Van and I.  After we sat down, she made it through one song and started getting antsy.  She was acting tired (of course church had to fall during her nap time).  So I took her out in the foyer and walked her around until she fell asleep in my arms.  Then we went back in the sanctuary and she slept through the rest of the service.  It worked out perfectly!

Ashley wore a beautiful christening gown made by her Grandma Murray and a locket given to her by her Grandma Franklin.  Apparantly, Nana (my grandmother) had given the locket to me for my christening when I was baby.  How neat that Ashley was able to wear it for her christening, too!  Her outfit definitely had special meaning to us.

We had lots of family there to share in this special day.  My parents, Van’s parents, my sister/brother-in law, uncle/aunt who came up from Roanoke Rapids and cousins who came up from Gaston Lake.  It meant a lot to us having all of them there.  And then we came back to the house afterwards for lunch catered by Barbecue Lodge!  Scrumptious!  Oh, and since the weather turned out nice, we were able to eat and mingle outside in our new backyard :)

Ashley got some gifts, which were really nice.  Uncle Eddie and Aunt Sybil gave her The Beginner’s Bible and cousins Steve and Joyce gave her a pearl bracelet.  It was pretty cool that she could actually sit up and “open” them.  Thanks guys!

Here are some pictures of our wonderful day!  As always, thanks to Uncle Nathan for being our photographer!
