Introducing Solid Food

Ashley had her first try at solid food the other day.  As you may or may not know, that is a big deal in babyland!  I’ve been waiting for just the right moment to introduce solid foods to her.  She has recently become interested in the things that Van and I are eating.  She will even watch us as we eat.  So I figured I would give it a shot and see if she liked it.  It doesn’t hurt to try.  So we pulled out a cute bib, put her in the Bumbo seat, and fixed some Happy Bellies Organic Brown Rice Cereal.  Made it real soupy of course.  After the initial “What the heck is this?” face, I think she liked it!  Even though most of it ended up everywhere EXCEPT inside her mouth, she did eat a few bites and seemed to enjoy herself.  I guess as much as anyone would enjoy organic brown rice cereal!  Ha!  It was so much fun to feed her with a spoon and watch her figure out this new experience.  We’ve tried it twice now and she has done well.  I plan on slowly incorporating it into our routine.  I’m still nursing her and milk will continue to be her main diet for a while.  We are just trying the rice cereal in-between feedings to give her some variety and texture.  Right now we are going to do it once a day but not everyday.  I’m just going to play it by ear and see how she does.  It is fun though!
