Ashley is 3 months old - wow – time is flying by! Had the calendar not said Jan. 12, I wouldn’t believe it. I feel like it was just yesterday when I held her in my arms for the first time. I will never forget that wonderful, glorious day. But then again, I feel like she’s been a part of our lives forever. Either way, I can’t imagine my life now without her.
She is much more active and vocal now. When I put her to sleep, I’m now waking up and finding her not in the position I left her in. The first time she did this she had scooted herself sideways in her crib. This morning when I woke up, she was almost upside down in her crib! She is so funny! She kicks her blanket off and somehow wiggles around into new positions. It’s fun to see where she’ll end up every morning!
She loves her new play mat, hence the pictures and videos of her on it. She is really attracted to the lights. There is a world “toy” that you attach to the top that plays music and lights up. Like anything else, she likes it for a while and then will get bored and want to do something else.
Van cut her finger nails for the first time this weekend. I was too scared to do it. Her hands are so tiny! Before, her nails would grow and then just come off on their own. They weren’t very strong. When they got long they would just come off. I guess it was a newborn thing. But now they don’t do that. They were getting longer and not coming off on their own so we had to trim them. Van did a good job, but there goes another “first”.
And I’m taking more videos, so you’ll be seeing some of those on my blog. Especially since she’s “talking” now and moving/kicking more. I just love it when she tries to talk to me! If you know me, you know I LOVE to talk. I have a feeling she might be taking after her Mommy! I’ll talk to her, stop, and when I stop talking, she’ll start. It’s like we’re having a conversation even though our languages are foreign to each other. I’m also reading books to her, which she seems to enjoy.
It is so neat watching her grow and develop, and seeing her personality come out. She doesn’t like being held like a newborn anymore (sideways in your arms). She likes being held upright with her head up on you. So we’ll walk around the house like that so she can see things. Sometimes she likes it a little too much because as soon as I try and put her down she starts crying. It’s like right when she comes off of me (before I even lay her down) she gets upset, but then smiles when I pick her back up. I have a feeling she is training me. More often than not, I give in and continue to hold her even though I really need to put her down to cook dinner or do something else. Little rascal has me right where she wants me! But look at that face, how could I resist?
Oh, and I’ve been meaning to put a plug in about this iPhone app I’ve been using. I found it when she was 2 weeks old, and it is wonderful! It is called Total Baby and you can store info. for up to 6 kids on it. It allows you to track feedings, diaper changes, naps, baths, doctor appointments, vaccines, and milestones. It has a timer you can use for nursing and naps, and you can export the data in a spreadsheet so when you go to the doctor just pull up the spreadsheet for all the info. you need. I love it and highly recommend it for any other OCD moms out there! So be warned, should you babysit for me, you will need to keep track of her diapers, wet v. stool, color and consistency of the stool, how much she ate and at what time so I can plug it into my app! I’ll quiz you when I get home. Yes, I am THAT crazy
