Ashley turned 6 weeks old yesterday. She’s doing great! Just growing away and smiling a lot. Apparently at 6 weeks, babies can recognize their parents. And they get so delighted at the sight of Mom or Dad that they welcome them with a big ole’ smile. It’s called a social smile and it shows that they are developing an ability to socialize. I think Ashley’s getting the hang of it. What do you think?

I am excited about Thanksgiving. My parents are coming up tomorrow and our friends Melanie and Brian are coming over on Thursday. We will be missing some people this year though. Jenn and Nathan are going to visit Nathan’s mom. Brock, Dottie, Sara and James are going to the mountains. And Eddie, Sibyl and the girls are spending Thanksgiving with Sibyl’s family. So this year the Murray house will be a little less crowded. We will miss you guys!
We tried getting Ashley’s handprint/footprint using some kits that folks had given us this weekend. They didn’t work AT ALL. I did get a laugh out of the mess Van made though. The first kit didn’t use plaster. It was some wierd consistency goo. Van got it all over his hands and that was about it. It was too sticky to work with. The second kit we tried did have plaster, but it dried before we could get her foot in it. Oh well. I’ve taken plenty of pictures of her little hands and feet so we can just look back on those.
As an aside, I got some comments from folks on a picture of Toby I posted in Thirsty Thursday. They thought he looked upset. I assure you he is not upset. I actually thought it was a good picture. He was just looking back at me. Not sure why some people thought differently. Nevertheless, more than one person commented on it, so I feel like I should post another picture of him. He is still a happy, spoiled doggy, and is just adjusting like the rest of us. He even gave Ashley a kiss last week. The picture of him above is when he was laying on Van’s shoe the other night. He LOVES laying on shoes! Now if only I could get a picture of him smiling!

Her smiles are prescious! I am sure they melt your heart every time
