Happy Thanksgiving!

Well, we made it through our first Thanksgiving with Ashley.  I say “made it through” like it was an ordeal.  It was actually rather relaxing compared to years past.  We didn’t have many folks at the house therefore we didn’t have to make much food.  So it was a nice, chill Thanksgiving this year.  Which was [...]

Smile

Ashley turned  6 weeks old yesterday.  She’s doing great!  Just growing away and smiling a lot.  Apparently at 6 weeks, babies can recognize their parents.  And they get so delighted at the sight of Mom or Dad that they welcome them with a big ole’ smile.  It’s called a social smile and it shows that they are developing an ability to socialize.  I [...]

Don't Blink

Yesterday was my birthday.  I turned the big 3-0!  It’s hard to believe I’m not in my twenties anymore.  Heck, it’s hard to believe I’m married, have a baby, and no longer playing basketball in the driveway with my Dad!  Turning 30 really makes me reflect on life.  How precious it is, how fast it [...]

5 Weeks Old

Well, Ashley is 5 weeks old today.   She had her 1-month checkup last Friday.  Her weight is now up to 8 lb. 4.5 oz!  How cool is that?  The pediatrician was very pleased, as were we!  Her lowest weight was 6 lb. 5 oz. (she was 6 lb. 15 oz. when born) and now she is over 8 [...]

4 Weeks Old

Ashley is 4 weeks old today.  Well, she will be at 5:14 p.m.  I’ve been thinking about how to calculate her age – like by month.  I would think that 4 weeks old = 1 month.  But today is Nov. 9th.  So technically, she really won’t be a month old until Thursday (Nov. 12th).  Isn’t [...]

3 Weeks Old

Ashley is 3 weeks old today!  She is laying on her tummy with me now as I’m typing this.  She loves tummy time!  I just lay her face down on me as I’m sitting on the couch.  I hear it is good for babies to spend time on their belly to strengthen their neck muscles, which help [...]
