I am 31 weeks pregnant today. Yay!! I’m now wearing tennis shoes to work which has been nice. I’ve apparently lost the arch in my feet so now they are just about completely flat. Which has made them longer and not so comfortable in my pretty work shoes. So I’ve converted to some Nike’s and they feel so much better! It also makes for a sexy look with my skirts – ha!
My shortness of breath has gotten worse, too. Not only just doing physical activity like going up the stairs or walking, but even laying back in the recliner or trying to sleep (sleep, what’s that?) makes it hard to breathe. There is no telling what little cavity my lungs are pushed up in with this big belly. Sometimes I feel like I’m just not getting in enough air. And the heartburn hasn’t improved much either. It’s so funny to me that no matter what I eat I end up with heartburn. Last night it was spurred on by some crackers. How crazy is that? I hear that if you have a lot of heartburn during pregnancy, that the baby will have a lot of hair. So we’ll have to see if that comes true.
And trying to sleep is a problem within itself. Some nights I do get good sleep, but those nights are becoming few and far between. Either a) I’m restless which causes me to toss and turn all night b) I’m having crazy dreams that also cause me to toss and turn c) I wake up because I can’t breathe so I’m changing positions to fix that d) I’m getting up to go to the bathroom or e) Lil’ Pumpkin decides to have a karate match in the middle of the night and I wake up to her punching and kicking. Unfortunately, my lack of sleep is also causing Van not to get any sleep either. I guess we better get used to that, huh?
So this is a big week for me. Tomorrow I have a follow-up doctor’s appointment. They will weigh me, take my blood pressure, measure my belly, and listen to Lil’ Pumpkin’s heartbeat. I LOVE hearing her heartbeat! Then on Thursday, my wonderful friends at work are throwing me a baby shower! I’m so excited! This is my first baby shower, so I don’t really know what to expect. And they are keeping the details a secret, so I can’t wait to see what they have in store for me! I am so thankful to have such great friends here at work. They are very supportive and just awesome people! Mom is coming up for the shower, too. So I can’t wait to introduce her to everyone. It will be so much fun!
